Where Actions Define The Future

A Message From the Executive Secretary

Ishana Bhatia

Executive Secretary

Hello! I am Ishana Bhatia, honoured to serve as the Executive Secretary for the inaugural edition of the DIACOP conference. In line with the UAE government's declaration of 2023 as the 'Year of Sustainability,' we have embraced the theme 'Today for Tomorrow' in anticipation of the prestigious COP28 conference set to be hosted in Dubai from November 30th to December 12th.

Over the years, our world has witnessed a surge in environmental challenges, propelled by rapid urbanisation and advancements in technology. Issues like global warming, ozone depletion, and the alarming threat of species endangerment and extinction have prominently featured on our global agenda. Recognizing the gravity of these challenges, the DIA community has taken the proactive step of contributing to the ecological well-being of our planet.

DIACOP transcends the boundaries of a conventional conference; it represents an initiative aimed at fostering holistic development. Our mission is to create an enriching experience for all participants. Whether you aspire to be a journalist, a passionate debater, or an architecture enthusiast, DIACOP offers you a unique platform to explore these diverse realms. Delegates can immerse themselves in spirited debates within the COP committee, where they will have the privilege to shape and discuss critical global issues. Alternatively, you can embark on a journalistic journey, collaborating with esteemed news channels such as Khaleej Times, Gulf News, and Emirates 24/7 to report on the conference's latest developments. For those with an ardour for design and sustainability, our conference presents an exciting opportunity to harness software tools and craft models of sustainable cities. The choice is yours, and we wholeheartedly encourage you to embrace the path that resonates most with your vision for personal and professional growth.

Our inaugural conference carries a profound mission - to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the realm of environmental solutions. DIACOP is dedicated to offering a tangible understanding of the theoretical aspects of environmental solutions. Together, we will embark on a transformative journey, unearthing innovative and sustainable solutions to address the world's most pressing environmental challenges.

In conclusion, the DIACOP conference is not just an event; it is a pivotal milestone in our collective journey toward a more sustainable and prosperous future. As we gather in Dubai, a city renowned for its innovation and forward-thinking spirit, we are reminded of the critical role we all play in shaping 'Today for Tomorrow.' This conference is a testament to our commitment to addressing the pressing environmental issues that confront us, and it serves as a reminder that by coming together, we possess the power to create meaningful change. Thank you for joining us on this extraordinary journey, and I look forward to the remarkable insights, collaborations, and innovations that will emerge from DIACOP 28. Welcome to the beginning of a transformative experience.

What is COP28?

The Conference of the Parties, or COP, is a vital global gathering within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of climate change. It serves as a platform for nations to come together and engage in discussions and negotiations aimed at combatting climate change and fostering sustainability.

The history of COP traces back to 1995 with the inaugural conference held in Berlin, Germany. Since then, these conferences have played a pivotal role in shaping international climate policy, yielding important agreements like the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. COP28 is no exception. It continues this legacy by providing a platform for participants to discuss negotiations, propose strategies, and deliberate on the most pressing environmental issues of our time.

Through this event, we aim to educate, inspire, and foster innovative solutions that will pave the way for a sustainable and climate-resilient future. Join us in this dynamic event as we collectively work towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious world.
